1. Assistant Relationship Manager – Corporate & Commercial Banking (Nairobi and Mombasa)

Job Purpose

The job holder will develop sales plans in line with the overall Corporate and Commercial Business Plans and manage different customers within the Corporate and Commercial Business segment.

The role will focus on:

  1. Driving product revenue and profitability growth.
  2. Managing and growing customer relationships.
  3. Identifying cross-selling opportunities across banking products.
  4. Providing structured and tailored banking solutions to clients.
  5. Enhancing customer satisfaction and post-sales support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that product revenue and profitability targets are achieved or exceeded by understanding customer business needs and anticipating requirements through a consultative selling process.
  2. Match customer needs with product capabilities through tailored demonstrations and proposals.
  3. Negotiate and renegotiate terms and conditions with customers to maximize revenue and profitability.
  4. Identify opportunities for cross-selling and referrals to other banking lines through developing a strong understanding of client needs.
  5. Provide structured solutions to meet the specific cash management requirements of customers and prospects.
  6. Undertake a disciplined product-oriented sales management process while monitoring, tracking and reporting on sales activity periodically and ensuring action is taken to meet sales targets.
  7. Assist product management and development teams in strategic product rollouts.
  8. Support customer needs analysis, market trends and product intelligence for new product development and enhancements to strengthen competitive positioning.
  9. Facilitate customer service issues and ensure a high level of post-sales service is consistently delivered to clients.
  10. Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the team leader from time to time.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ banking experience with at least three (3) years in business development for the Corporate or Commercial Banking segment.
  • Excellent financial acumen and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent sales and marketing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial banking products.
  • Strong negotiation and client engagement capabilities.
  • Sharia foundations and principles of Islamic finance will be an added advantage.
